I’ve been thinking about the relationship between life, possibilities, path and us as individuals. (Crazy that this is what comes to mind when I am washing the dishes or doing something so mundane. Ok...) Imagine this… life as a grid, with lines that are parallel to each other and lines that cross each other. For simplicity, let’s imagine them as straight lines.
If you are into Quantum mechanics, these lines represent our spacetime and could be a close up view of a really, really large spiral, representing our many lifetimes. Since we are looking only at this lifetime, we only really see criss-crossing straight lines.
Imagine that when we are born, we are in the centre of this grid. We are that red centre dot in the picture below (it is not at random that they say “it’s all about us” and “we are the centre of the Universe”). We have our whole life surrounding us. We can go anywhere and do anything we choose.

Our lifetime is a function of spacetime and possibilities. As we grow and make our own choices, we move around this grid from one point to another through paths. Some choices are made for us by people close to us (e.g. parents, guardians), and are influenced by the community and culture we are born into, by the era we live in, by our experiences. Some choices keep us in the same place, while others move us forward or backwards, upwards or downwards.
Our choices may take us anywhere in this grid of possibilities. The more we live, the more experience we gain, the more clarity we gain of our desires and of the direction we want to go in this lifetime. This desire, this direction, is our purpose in this lifetime. To live a life on purpose is to live a life in authenticity, courage, and trust.
As I mentioned in previous posts, sometimes our fears are bigger than our own desires. And that will likely leave us feeling stuck, constrained, and unsatisfied deep down in our hearts.
To start moving within the grid that is our lifetime in leaps and bounds, consider the following:
Be authentic: Have the curiosity to get to know yourself. What makes you happy, sad, excited, triggered, and your patterns of thoughts and behaviours that follow those thoughts.
Be courageous: Reflect on who you desire to become and the parts of you that are blocking you from advancing towards that. How you want to show up for yourself and others from that moment on.
Trust: All endings are followed by a new beginning. As you break down your own patterns by becoming aware of them, your emotions and patterns of thought will progressively evolve. With it, everything around you will fall into place without you having to do anything for it.
This is an iterative process, with ebbs and flows. As we think one area in our life is taken care of, there comes a situation that tells us that there is more to be explored. This iterative process is not one to be crossed off the to-do list. Rather, it is one of evolution and becoming. Stay on course. Stay motivated. We will slowly and progressively become ready for our desires, with clarity of the path to be taken and decisions that keep us on purpose in this grid called life.
Thoughtfully yours,
Dre
